Through the Column.
A Brooklyn-bound (3) train is seen arriving at its first stop on the journey south: 145 St. This station is unique in the subway as it is the only half-length station still in revenue service. Due to proximity to interlockings at either end of the station, from what I'm told, the station cannot be extended and thus only the first five cars open, while the rear five stay closed (four of which are still in the tunnel). The station gained this distinction after the South Ferry loop station closed following the reconstruction of terminal of the same name in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
