The "Steam in the Valley" excursion train, run by the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad makes its return trip North across "Furnace Run". Nickle Plate Road's historic 765 visits Northeast Ohio annually over multiple weekends to pull excursions through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park -- and every year multitudes of people make their way out to the park to either ride the train, take pictures, film video, or just watch the 1940s steamer chug on by. Steam in the valley was cancelled, however, in 2020, making the event even more celebrated when it returned in 2021.
The Van Swearingen Brothers standarized freight power for their railroads with nearly identical 2-8-4 Berkshires. Two of these engines are still in excursion service.
