The remnants of Tropical Storm / Hurricane Nora which had made its way up from Mexico and Arizona have reached the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The weather is obscuring some of the Needles Range of the San Juans, but below we find the Animas River making its way south while a northbound Durango and Silverton extra makes its way to Silverton (since the abandonment of the Rio Grande, the railroad is now a North-South railroad, not a East-West).
K-37 493 is repainted as it's Denver and Rio Grande Western version, though not visible here in this scene. The train has been chartered for photographers through Trains Magazine.
