Remarks & Notes
"CTrail Storm Storage at West Haven"

Between the night of August 21st and morning of August 22nd, 2021, the Connecticut Department of Transportation moved all of it's equipment from New Haven Yard to West Haven on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line in anticipation of Tropical Storm Herni, which was due to make landfall at New Haven that evening. New Haven Yard is located 4-5 meters above sea level, making it a prime location for potential flooding if a major hurricane were to strike. The area west/south of West Haven Station is located on a hill about 31 meters above sea level.

In this photo CTrail P40DC 833 (one of only 3 left awaiting rebuild) sits with a line of leased MBB coaches ahead of other equipment on Track 2 west of West Haven Station. This is one of the few, if not only times you will see this equipment west of New Haven as it is prohibited from running west of CP271 by Special Instruction.
