Great Northern 274 Built in 1950 for the Great Northern Railroad EMD F7A continues a life 70+ years later pulling tourists between Garilbaldi and Rockaway, Beach, along the Oregon Coast. The railroad was part of Southern Pacific's Tillamook Bay Branch. The Port of Tillamook Bay took the railroad over in 1986 using a small fleet of SD9s. A massive storm washed the railroad out in several locations in 2007, and at 53 million dollars to repair the railroad has mostly sat unused except for a short few miles leased by the tourist railroad. With many in the Oregon Govt excited about turning the railroad into a trail it is unlikely the the line will see freight service again. The Tourist operation would one day like to extend their operation farther up and down the coast. The train is crossing a small bridge over Saltair Creek.
