NKP No. 765 ducks the massive I-380 highway bridge in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on a return trip from the Delaware Water Gap. The excursion, named "The Poebe Snow Special" is traveling along the former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western right of way. Far off in the background, you'll see the abandoned Erie Pratt through truss bridge over Roaring Brook & DL&W main. The Erie Railroad Wyoming Division Bridge was recently re-decked to allow equipment moves for an upcoming project to replace the I-380 twin span highway bridges. When finished, the bridge will become part of the new North Pocono trail. Just ahead, not in sight, to the northwest, is the better known, oft photographed, Jessup Branch Viaduct which was built by the Erie R.R. in 1895. That 545' structure was last used by Pocono Northeast Railway in 1983. Sadly, Hurricane Gloria wiped out a lot of the old Erie tracks in 1985.
