| The "Gelmerbahn" funicular railway on the Bernese side of the Grimsel Pass is a metre gauge line with a track length of 1028 metres (3373 ft) and a maximum gradient of 106%. The former industrial railway was constructed in 1926 and originally designed for transporting the heavy building materials used to construct a dam. Since 2001 the funicular is open for public use. |
