Remarks & Notes
Wilmington and Western #58 passes by the Wooddale Covered Bridge as it pushed the train back to Greenbank Station on one of the last fall foliage trips of the season. The original covered bridge was built in 1850 but it was destroyed by flooding in Tropical Storm Henri, in 2003, which also caused much destruction for the railroad. The bridge was rebuilt in 2008. Please note, this photo is a composite of two photos, one for the correct exposure of the train, and one for the correct exposure of the bridge interior.

Fortunately, many covered bridges survive throughout the US. Even more fortunately, some are located in the photographic vicinity of rail lines.
