Remarks & Notes
Anthracite Railroads Historical Society's 1948 built EMD F3 No. 56 (former Bangor & Aroostook), along with sister unit No. 57 (owned by Tri-State Railroad Historical Society) sit in the yard at Jim Thorpe, PA, pending movement to Scranton, PA. After sporadically running on the former CNJ main through the Lehigh Gorge, and Jim Thorpe, they prepare for a new career at Steamtown, later painted to represent the Lackawanna Railroad. To the right are a string of privately owned cabooses that were later evicted from the property by the county after George Hart's famed Rail Tours Inc. contract expired without renewal. Most of the other equipment that sat in the yard (locomotives (both steam and diesel), passenger cars and freight cars) were thankfully acquired and /or moved to new owners by the Reading & Northern.
