Southern's small group of former Central of Georgia SD9s (and a single SD7) tended to be found in either yard or transfer duty in Atlanta and Birmingham. That is not what is happening here, though, as 204 and three first-generation GPs speed down Southern's mainline toward Bessemer. Added note - that blurry shape on top of the building visible beyond 204's short hood is a 36' tall replica of the Statue of Liberty.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
