Remarks & Notes
Amtrak no. 14, the northbound Coast Starlight, running 5 plus hours late arrives at the Dunsmuir Amtrak Station. Dunsmuir is a true railroad town. In 1887,the Central Pacific completed the line through the Siskiyou Mountains and created a division point at the future town of Dunsmuir. It was a site of a roundhouse to service Steam Locomotives to help trains up and down the grades. Today a pair of helpers are ready in the siding for the same duty.

Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
