Remarks & Notes

Union Pacific’s A-B-A set of E9s are fresh from a rebuild at VMV in Paducah, Kentucky. The train departed Paducah in the morning of April 26, 1993, and headed up the Illinois Central main line to Akin Junction where it began its trek west toward Benton and home rails. In this view along a flooded Mississippi River in the afternoon, the trio of classy cab units pull a passenger special through Chester, Illinois, during their maiden run.
