With just two miles to go to reach the summit, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway double-stack train passes the old passenger station in downtown Tehachapi. BNSF ES44DC 7674, FURX SD40-2 8115, BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4615 and BNSF Dash 9-44CW 5301 will soon kick in the dynamic brakes to counteract gravity as the train descends into Mojave, at which point it will split off from UP’s Mojave Sub and head east to Barstow on BNSF’s own Mojave Sub.
