The C&O trestle that spans across the skyline of Richmond has for almost a century been a prominent feature of the city. Built as a replacement for the ill-fated Church Hill tunnel, the bridge is an importent artery for the export of coal minerals to Europe and Asia. This is CSX's busiest coal artery, and at one time it saw twenty to thirty trains a day. Not anymore - though, now seeing a handful of trains on a good day. Regardless, the bridge still stands as a testimony to the hard work and investments the C&O made to an industry that was once thought to be the key to success.
