As NS #4384 continued west with its empty coal train on January 16, 2021 multiple eastbounds awaited their turn at Capels, WV. One of them, a loaded ethanol train lead by NS #4135, departed Capels around 1 pm. Here, #4135 passes through a small trackside neighborhood near Vivian, WV, population 82. Near this location is the small town of Kimball, WV population 194 named after Frederick J. Kimball an early president of the Norfolk & Western. Mr. Kimball was instrumental in the N&W purchasing the former Flat-Top Coal Land Association in 1901 reorganizing it into the Pocahontas Coal and Coke Company. While renamed in 1939 as the Pocahontas Land Corporation, a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern according to my research, the Pocahontas Coal and Coke Co. helped power half the world's navies during the 20th century and today powers steel mills and power plants worldwide
