Remarks & Notes
Travesty From Toronto

Without a doubt, the ugliest locomotive to carry an Alco 251 prime mover was the Bombardier LRC. The 1980 introduction of the low-slung active-tilt trainsets signaled an end to aesthetically pleasing passenger locomotives in North America. On this day, an eastbound VIA train from Toronto has been dispatched with one of the ungainly LRC’s leading an F9B and conventional cars, accentuating the squat lines of the LRC. While a classic 251-engined cab unit waits in the background, the LRC/F9B set off the Ottawa section behind the station in Brockville, Ontario.
