| We're at the National Railway Equipment's facility in Dixmoor as the scrapper is hard at work, taking apart Illinois Central SW14 #1435. USSX SW1200RS #59's tragic end would follow within 24 hours of this photo. IHB NW2 #2256 was scrapped just a few days earlier as its remains rest on top of the growing pile of scrap metal. Fast forward from September 30th to today and not much remains at this facility as it awaits its impending closure. Some lease locomotives still hang around, waiting to be sent back to their respective railroads. |
