What a splendid sight! Cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 2/3 # 6 "WEISSHORN" of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke on the turntable of Furka DFB station on 2160 meter a.s.l, ready to be turned. The locomotive arrived with train 139 from Realp and has to go down to Gletsch and Oberwald on the other side of the Furka summit tunnel backwards, due to the boiler construction. The WEISSHORN was built in 1902 by the SLM Winterthur for the Visp-Zermatt-Bahn (VZ). She was withdrawn there and sold to the Ems chemical plant in Grisons in 1941 for the work shunting service. In 1961 placed on a children's playground in Chur. Came to the DFB in 1988 and was operational since 1989, in a blue paint scheme as first steamlocomotive of the new railway, when the first section of the line from Realp to Tiefenbach was re-opened in 1992. Since 2007 in the original oliv green/black paint scheme after a revision in Goldau. In the cab we can see fireman/engineer "Wädi", which had his second-last run before retirement the following day.
