Remarks & Notes
Rebuilding of 120 meter track during the night break of the Rhaetian Railway by SMG (Sersa Maschineller Gleisbau). This is the track segment mover "Schnägg" (snail), operating on wide caterpillar drives, moving outside the new concrete sleepers. The special vehicle was built by J.Müller Gleisbau, Effretikon, which was taken over by the Rhomberg/Sersa group. The "Schnägg" is lifting the 15 meter long used track segments on one side, the "Mungg" (marmot) portal crane on the other end first. The self propelled "Mungg" double portal crane then moves till this end of the track segment can be fixed on its transport bar. Then the track segment is transported over several flat cars and placed. The red tongs of the bar then grasp the new concrete sleepers on another transport car and puts them to the track bed.
