Over the Arroyo at Deer Trail
Over the dry arroyo near Deer Trail, CO, Union Pacific The Big Boy #4014 rolls over the open prairie of a very Colorado eastern plains scene. The rip rap serves as an ideal perch to shoot this wide angle scene in the vibrant early Winter sunshine. The property owners Ford truck stands in the shadows under the passing million pounds of iron and steel. The steam so politely hanging in the chilled air filled with humidity from an approaching winter storm the next day. Here on its return home from its Southwest Tour only a few more hours to Denver. The ancient Kansas & Pacific Extension steel trestle doesn’t seem sturdy enough for such a heavy locomotive! |
