Remarks & Notes |
A Montana Rail Link helper set coasts downgrade back to Livingston, Montana, after pushing a westbound BNSF train over Bozeman Pass. The westbound ruling grade from Livingston to West End is 1.8 percent. MRL helper sets for Bozeman are normally made up of a pair of EMD SD70ACe locomotives spliced by a SD40-2XR (rebuilt SD40). The steeper 2.2 percent westbound grade of Mullan Pass west of Helena uses quartets of SD70ACes in manned helper sets. |
