On March 26 2007, SNCF officially unveiled the experimental TGV 4402 that had been prepared for months to attempt a new world speed record (on railroad track with sleepers and rails!). On this occasion, it was carrying a special paint scheme, that would last only for the duration of the high speed runs. The picture shows the train as it enters the inauguration party, held in the Pantin maintenance shops east of Paris. With its pan down, it is pushed by the POS TGV #4404. A few days later, on April 3, this train reached the fantastic speed of 574.8 kph (357.2 mph).
