| Amtrak P42 in Heritage scheme #184 leads the eastbound California Zephyr into the horseshoe at Coal Creek, CO. The open mountain meadows of this open space which is the grandstands of the Great Plains has been zoned for residential use and will be developed soon. Amtrak just finished it’s ride through the tunnel district on the eastern slope leaving tunnel 1 behind. Denver, in the distance is in full evening Summer sun after thunderstorms are leaving the area to the south towards Castle Rock. |
