After the shot at Coopers Trestle, NS 9555 got well ahead of me along US Route 52 and I turned my attention instead to the coal dock at Elkhorn, WV. Even with severe downturns in an area known for its coal industry, coal still moves out at a fairly steady pace for export. Here, a set of pushers dispatched out from Bluefield, WV heads downgrade west towards Farm, WV, our next location, to help eastbound coal trains up the mountain grade to Bluefield.
