| A Mounds City, IL, empty DDG train is yarding their train in Cedar Rapids. The CN yard in Cedar Rapids doesn't have any headroom, so the CN has to use the UP industrial trackage thru downtown Cedar Rapids for headroom or when CN delivers to the UP. So moves like this don't happen too often. The train is as far south as they need to go to yard this 100 car train as they sit on 6th avenue. This UP trackage takes trains downtown on the old CN&W mainline that once ran between Otis and Beverly. Nowadays its just a deadend trackage used by everybody to get to and from yards and customers. The train is bound for the ADM plant on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids that is serviced by the Crandic Railroad who will come get the train overnight. |
