There’s a traffic jam of freight trains at Rocky, Colorado, on the morning of June 24, 2000. Union Pacific’s MDVGJX, an extra Denver to Grand Junction train, holds the main line at Rocky. On the left is the last cars of UP’s MRODV (Roper Yard to Denver) manifest freight headed east out of the siding. Following closely behind is an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe manifest freight that is heading into the siding from the west. I wish it still was as busy on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision today!
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
