Remarks & Notes

These tiny shunting engines are called locotractors in France. These ones have a power of 225 KW (yellow ones, Y 9000 series) or 205 KW (green one, Y 8000 series). In the past, they could operate on short distances on main lines for light duties. Now, they are mostly assigned to shunting within yards or maintenance shops. When they belong to a maintenance centre and do not leave the perimeter of the centre, they are considered tools instead of locomotives.
