Freeport McMoran's first "Hill Turn" is pulling past the depot at Clifton. The train will spend about 45 minutes filling the small yard at Clifton with cars for the Arizona & Eastern. The gorgeous depot in Clifton was built by the newly standard gauged Arizona & New Mexico Railroad in 1913 to serve the vibrant mining towns of Clifton, San Francisco, Chase Creek and Morenci. In the late 1800s it is said the mining camps here were as wild as the infamous Tombstone, Arizona.
