Amtrak 342 flies white "extra" flags leading an Amtrak excursion sponsored by the Lancaster, PA Chapter NRHS northbound through Pine Creek Gorge, the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania", to Wellsboro Junction. The train makes an unscheduled stop in Blackwell on Conrail's Corning Secondary. The train stopped for a medical emergency with one of the passengers, waiting for a first responder medical team to arrive. The head end of the train is stopped in the area where a railroad depot was once located, between the track and the Blackwell United Methodist Church seen in the background. The church, started in 1892 as the Blackwell Methodist Episcopal Church, features distinctive exterior wood siding that mimics brick masonry construction with stone quoins. The Corning Secondary would see its last through service trains less than one year later on Oct. 7, 1988. By late spring 1989, Conrail had the line dismantled from Wellsboro Junction to Jersey Shore. The scenic right-of-way is now the Pine Creek Rail Trail.
