Think Location! Location! Location! As a particular person in rail publications is well know for saying, and it was proven again this past week as a video of a military train made the rounds on the internet with a variety of false geographic locations attached. On the afternoon of Friday, October 11, 2019, CSX W809-11 had 4070 (SD40-3) in the lead as it made its way past the former New York Central Railroad station in North East, Pennsylvania that currently houses the Lake Shore Railway Museum. This train was taking a number of trucks, humvees, and armored vehicles from Fort Drum in Watertown, NY to New Orleans, LA. The US Government often moves military equipment and vehicles by train, whether for training or deployment, and their presence on the rails is not unusual, and certainly not a cause for alarm.
