Rotary OY reaches Cumbres Pass. Looking very much like it might have perhaps 80 years earlier, Rotary OY and her snow-fighting outfit reaches the snow-bound section house at the summit of Cumbres Pass, Elevation 10,015 MSL. A light snow shower and some 4 feet of accumulated snow greets the train, but the 97 year-old plow handles it with relative ease.
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are all that remains of the legendary Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge system. Here you'll find some of my favorites from these two beautiful railways.
