Remarks & Notes
Today's fourth class Train 50 is powered by one of two S-2's assigned to Newport VT. The daily except Sunday fourth class freight worked between Newport and Wells River. It was a turn that returned as Train 51. The station was built in 1867 and was the headquarters of the Connecticut and Passumpsic Rivers Rail Road Co., which was controlled by the Boston and Maine from 1887 to 1926. The line from Wells River to Newport was then leased to the CPR until it was acquired by the CPR in 1946.
