Remarks & Notes
Spanning the Passaic River just west of Amtrak's Newark Penn Station, these massive twin vertical lift bridges were built by the Pennsylvania Railroad between the years of 1935 & 1937 and can be seen today carrying a heavy load of rail traffic from NJ Transit, Amtrak, and PATH. Seen here is a westbound Raritan Valley Line train crossing the bridge as it slows for its stop at Penn Station.
