| There was a time when EMDs were a regular on this part of the North Jersey Coast Line. Then with the arrival of the PL42AC and ALP-45DP locomotives the regularity of EMDs slowly faded away and has become a rare occurrence to see one down here. Pictured here is NJT GP40PH-2B 4216 spending some time on the Coast Line with westbound shuttle 4343 to Bay Head passing Watson Creek in Brielle on an extremely cold and windy early December evening. The snow on the ballast is leftover from a previous overnight snowstorm. Both the locomotive and Comet commuter cars wear the classic NJ Transit “Disco-Stripe” paint scheme. |
