CNW 934 and 932 idle away at Altoona, WI in March 1968, only a month or so after delivery to the railroad. The GE U30Cs numbered 930-936 and were a treat to see on the EMD dominated railroad, at least on the Twin Cities Division. Their lack of ATC pickups kept them on the division during their 10 year career on CNW. The railroad did not go back for seconds. 6 were sold to NdeM by 1978, while this unit was wrecked and taken off the roster sooner due to a wreck. It ended up becoming a U34CH on New Jersey Transit. During their time on CNW they mixed it up with Geeps, big SDs, Alco C628s from N&W, and even an occasional FM H-16-66.
