Remarks & Notes
Photographed from the eastbound Broadway Limited, this is Thorn Block Station at MP35 west of Philadelphia on the former Pennsylvania Railroad mainline. Thorn was an example of the importance PRR placed upon its line side control stations and was constructed during the electrification program of the 1930s. The chip in the roof (as well as a few bricks on the front of the tower) was the result of a 1960s derailment when an LCL hotshot's consist started coming sideways at the tower off the P&T Branch (3rd track from the tower). Fortunately the building was constructed well. The US&S CTC machine controlling this territory is shown here: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/630340/
