Wood products are stil in the traffic mix on a lot of Alabama railroads, but on many lines the amount and importance of such traffic has diminished greatly in the last few years. In this shot made not quite twenty years ago, chip hoppers are in the consist of the southbound CSX local, as well as occupying much of the trackage around the CSX/NS crossing. The train is led by the usual (at the time) pair of B30-7s, led by ex-C&O 8291, delivered in April 1981.
