Union Pacific swings off the BNSF Railway’s Needles Sub and onto a short (seven-mile) section of the UP’s Los Angeles Subdivision to travel from Daggett to Yermo, California. UP’s 162-mile-long Los Angeles Sub stretches from Los Angeles to Yermo, but there is a 100-mile-long hole in it because of the UP’s trackage rights on the BNSF from West Riverside, over Cajon Pass, to Daggett. UP SD70ACe 9051 (along with UP 6626-UP 6873-UP 5999) is back on home rails as the intermodal train makes its way from Los Angeles to Denver, via Las Vegas and Ogden.
