As the morning sun rises over French’s Hollow Trestle, a veteran SD40-2 leads Q263-05 from East Brookfield, MA to O’Bannon, KY over Normans Kill in Guilderland Center, NY. The dam holds back the Watervliet Reservoir. Although it was just a small trickle on this morning, when heavy rains fall this area can look like a raging Niagara Falls. In an era of modern wide cab GEs, it was nice to see a non-rebuilt standard cab EMD leading. CSX 8831 was built in 1977 as Conrail 6439.
