“Pine Tree Detour” Operating on B&O’s Philadelphia Sub, a Maine Central extended vision caboose brings up the rear of D&H POPY at North Point, the crew change point at the east end of Bayview Yard. The Portland, ME to Potomac Yard manifest, which would normally operate via the NEC between Perryville and Landover, had been rerouted via the B&O due to the now infamous collision between Amtrak 94 and Conrail ENS121 at Chase, MD two days prior. MEC 651 was the sole representative of the Pine Tree Route on POPY this day.
