In reality, this comes from the time machine known as the Illinois Railway Museum at the yearly Museum Showcase Weekend. This year (2019), the Museum utilized 1914 CB&Q RPO number 1923 with their Nebraska Zephyr trainset, a historically accurate consist. Museum volunteers spent the weekend picking up mailbags from the crane while dropping bags on the ground; despite a young crew, not a single bag was missed!
