NS 275 (Shelbyville,KY-Atlanta,GA) glide south through Sunbridge, TN on the journey south for Chattanooga. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s and early 60s that the original 5+ mile section that ran straight through the town of Sunbright was relocated a mile east of town. As part of the 1960’s realignment would eliminate traffic getting through tunnel 16 due to height clearance, gentle grades for smoother operation, and a double track main to ease congestion. The original right of way still exists along with the abandon tunnel 16.
