Remarks & Notes
In pre-radio days railroads maintained private telephone networks with lineside phones at stations, junctions, and other key points, used by train crews to communicate with dispatchers and towers. By 1984 this Boston & Maine phone box at Ayer, MA, was fast becoming a relic. Chopped-nose Maine Central GP7 590 switched in the background.
