Somewhat of an oddball power assortment for a coal empty, SD50 6791 leads B40-8 5070 and Dash8-40CW 6144 past MG. Even with its tattered window shades, the still part-time open office at MG, just a mile and a half west of Horseshoe Curve, looked much better than it subsequently appears with the windows filled in with concrete after dispatchers assumed control of this interlocking. MG was an example of the solid brick construction PRR used with its interlocking stations during the 30s and 40s, indicative of the significance the system placed upon these locations' critical function.
