BIG MOVE: On Friday, August 23, 2019, the Batten Kill Railroad took delivery of two large steel bridge beams at Eagle Bridge, NY for the nearby State Route 67 bridge replacement project. The bridge spans both the Batten Kill’s tracks and the Owl Kill. The beams having been loaded, here Batten Kill Alco RS-3 #4116 slowly guides them across the Hoosic River at Eagle Bridge between the loading site and the unloading site. This move was part of a lucrative contract with the state, which will undoubtedly provide a great boost to the shortline by helping to cover the cost of maintaining the right-of-way.
