Union Pacific GE AC4400CW No. 6704 has its old prime mover and generator carefully lifted out of locomotive at UP’s South Morrill Locomotive Facility on September 14, 2017. During this overhaul, the old generator, still being good-order, will be transferred to a new prime mover before being installed into No. 6704. Unfortunately, UP closed the South Morrill Locomotive Facility in January 2019, likely due to the decline in coal traffic in the Powder River Basin region.
