1996? nope, its 2019.... BCOL4609 leads train 570 southbound up Pemberton Hill at walking speed! I regretfully never made it to the BC Rail before the CN take over, but this summer I got a little taste of what it was like. I spent 2 days following this train 570 from north of Williams Lake to Squamish, BC. In this photo at Tisdall this veteran mountain puller and its CN EMD mate are sand blasting up the 2.2% grade with just under 4000 tons at the drawbar. It is all these two motors can do, just to keep the train moving....
