Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 579 traverses San Diego's Rose Canyon as it heads north from San Diego to Los Angeles on November 9, 2018. As the Surfliner's F59PHIs are slowly sent east to Chicago, and their new owner Metra, Amtrak P42DCs - such as AMTK 84, seen here - are filling in as the new Siemens SC-44 diesels are slowly arriving.
