Remarks & Notes
A warm, sunny day in the middle of summer in 2008 at the Hel station, the terminal of route no. 213 or the so-called "Hel peninsula line". During the summer season the place sees heavy passenger traffic, local and long-distance alike. SU46-041 has just arrived with a local train from Gdynia (comprising a baggage car, non-compartment, and a 3-piece articulated double-decker) and SU46-033 awaits its return trip with a long-distance service to Rzesz√≥w, which is bound to depart in the evening. This was the last season of these robust units at the Hel peninsula though. As a result of yet another railroad reform in Poland, PKP Cargo was no longer in charge of leasing power to other companies of the PKP Group, leaving passenger companies with underpowered class SM42 road switchers (class SU45 owned by both of them were forbidden on this particular line due to extreme track wear these caused). The SU46 were relegated exclusively to hauling freight, mostly over the German-Polish border in the Węgliniec area.
