A tale as old as time itself.. Brice coal train N313-18 begins the assault on the steep grade at the start of the former Clinchfield Railroad out of Elkhorn City as the rear end distributed power passes over the still pools of the Russell Fork at Pool Point. With 110 loaded coal cars sandwiched between 17,600HP worth of GE locomotives, the crew will make short work of this grade, and several more on the run from Shelby, KY to Kingsport, TN. The power and scenery may have changed on the Clinchfield, but the way of life will never change.
